Iran strongly condemned the assassination of Yemen's Minister of Youth and Sports, Hassan Zayed (government of the Ansar Allah rebel movement, Houthis). In a statement on the morning of October 28, Islamic Republic Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzade expressed condolences to the government, people and family of Zayed, Mehr news agency reported.
“Undoubtedly, this cowardly murder, like other crimes of the aggressors in Yemen, only demonstrates the weakness and stalemate in which the external aggressors found themselves in the face of the staunch and resolute nation of Yemen,” the Iranian foreign ministry said.
Authorities in the Yemeni capital confirmed on Tuesday that Zayd was killed in an assassination attempt carried out by "criminal elements linked to the Saudi aggressors." Yemeni's Interior Ministry announced that a member of the Houthi government was shot dead on October 27 while driving with his daughter in Sana'a. The minister's daughter was wounded.
So far, no faction in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the attack.
